Coffee Recipe - How The Coffee Recipe Has Evolved

When you think about a coffee recipe things such as cake and biscuits immediately come to mind.

Just recently, watching an episode of Star Trek Voyager, I nearly fell off my chair when captain Janeway asked the ship's computer to replicate two servings of coffee icecream. Before I realized it was futuristic fiction I had the yellow pages in hand looking for a retailer which sold one of these replicators.

Anyway, the coffee recipe basically started when people realized that just "the black stuff" and boiling water was boring. It had a bitter taste and to be honest, didn't taste very good. So people looked for ways to improve upon the taste and hence the birth of coffee recipes.

Milk And Coffee

The addition of milk was just about the first ingredient added to the basic "black cup of Joe" and made a big impact. Then sugar was added and the evolvement process started to take shape. Maybe people got bored of drinking it with hot water or drinking plain milk, but one fine day they decided to mix coffee with milk and the recipe was a super-hit.

This set off a domino effect and it wasn't long before coffee recipes of all types were being created. After milk came chocolate, after chocolate came flavorings, then syrups and then food and then liqueurs too. The coffee recipe brigade just kept marching on!

The Star Trek-style replicator which can produce a coffee-enhanced food or drink in a split second is still a couple of centuries off however, into the 21st century, gourmet recipes are becoming more and more abundant.

A great coffee recipe can be a dessert or a sweet – For example, a basic coffee-based candy can be roasted coffee beans covered with chocolate. Coffee is added even to meats because it brings out the meat flavors with a subtle touch – but not a strong touch – of coffee flavor.

Lattes, cappucinos, macchiatos, espressos, flavor-enhanced coffees - these are all popular recipes and the birth of new ones is happening all the time.
