Calculate the costs of your trip to Starbucks coffee shop and the amount of money you spend buying a cup of coffee there. Add that up until you get the result you spend on that annually. You will be surprised to know that you can buy quite a number of expensive things with the amount you spend drinking coffee from this famous café.

Well, that should be no problem if your pockets do not wince. But since most of us are in between a rock and a hard place these days, cutting back on cost is necessary. There is one solution so you can still satisfy your caffeine stream and that is through home brewing.

There are so many home brewers sold in the market today. Even Starbucks aficionados have cut back going to this place and are just now enjoying the similar taste in their coffee maker at home. Most of them say that their brewer makes coffee so like this famous coffee shop, if not even better. You just have to ponder on the following:

Find the right brewing system

Which is the best coffee maker for you? This should be the first thing you will find out. There are various types of brewers. There are one cup brewers until 12 cups coffee machines. There are also brewers that can make espresso, latte and cappuccino in one machine.

Finding the right brewing system depends on you. Find out which features you want to see in your coffee machine. This will make it easier for you when you scour the market. There are various options for you. Make sure you find the one that can really extract the flavour from your coffee beans or coffee grounds.

One with a shower head is good because this will help loosen up coffee oil so it can be easily extracted. This way, you will have a more flavourful cup of coffee.

Know your favourite coffee grounds

The next thing you need to do is to find your favourite grounds. Is it coffee Arabica or robusta? Is it dark, light or medium roast? If you are going to use one cup brewers, you have the option of choosing K-cups and pods. These were already pre-measured for you.

Find a good grinder

A good grinder is the best accessory for your brewer. This will help you achieve the right consistency of the grounds. This way, you can have the best tasting coffee.

The fun part there is experimenting. You can spend a bit of time tweaking the settings and the measurements of the grounds until you find the one that will really please your palate.

Italian Coffee Maker- regular coffee vs. espresso//Cholesterol?

I just bought an "Italian Coffee Maker" thinking its a coffee brewer that you use on the stove. I like a cup of coffeee every now and then, but my dad pointed out to me and I read on line that its really to make espresso.
I'm pretty health conscious so I wanted to kno if I use a filter to make regular coffee with it(which ive done before with another little maker like this) will is reduce the cholesterol--ness? lol >_<

Dont make fun, but I heard on MSNBC once that you should use a filter even with capuucino machines because without it you can raise your cholesterol..(significant difference)
So is this different from he cappuccino thing I heard? Can I make regular coffee and not have to worry about that?
Or.. you I just return it and get a regular little coffee machine?

First time I've heard of that one...

A filter can reduce cholesterol from coffee?

Is there much cholesterol in coffee to begin with? If so, how can a paper or mesh filter, make it healthier. I think that's a big myth.

I happen to brew 100% Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee in a vaccum brewing coffee machine. It uses a mesh filter and makes EXCELLENT cups of coffee.

I buy the coffee at www.FASTCAFE.com

Good Luck :)
